Have you ever wanted to do something truly meaningful—something that helps others, brings joy to people, and makes a real difference in the world? As a Junior Legionary in the Legion of Mary, you are invited to do exactly that!
The Legion of Mary is more than just a group; it is a spiritual family, a team under the caring guidance of Our Blessed Mother. As a Junior Legionary, you join Mary’s mission to bring Christ to others through kindness, prayer, and service. No act is too small when performed with love!
What Does a Junior Legionary Do?
As a Junior Legionary, you will participate in a special mission called the apostolate. This simply means assisting others in growing closer to God. You might:
- Attend a weekly meeting where you will practice the Legion system of prayer and works. You will learn and recite the Legion Prayers, pray the rosary, and do a “work” assignment all under the supervision and guidance of 2 adult legionaries.
- Visit the elderly or lonely and brighten their day
- Help teach younger children about the faith
- Distribute rosaries or prayer cards
- Pray for those in need
- Show kindness and friendship to those who feel left out
Every action you take becomes part of something bigger—Mary’s work in the world.
Why Is the Apostolate So Important?
The apostolate is at the core of the Legion of Mary. It’s not just about gathering—it’s about stepping out and living your faith.
When you help someone, listen to them, or pray for them, you are sharing God’s love in a real way. You become a light in the world, just as Jesus calls us to be.

Today’s Junior Legionaries are tomorrow’s Senior Legionaries. By starting young, you grow strong in faith, confident in serving others, and ready to continue Mary’s mission as you grow older.
